Populus Group is seeking applications for two GIS Analysts in the corporate office of a Scottsdale-based company.
Engagement duration will be 11/15 - 5/16. This contract will likely get extended. Travel requirements will be 0-20% (likely 0%).

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst focuses on fulfilling field data collection requirements supporting critical company initiatives.  This role requires utilization of advanced GIS software and other resources to facilitate data collection.  The GIS Analyst must conduct interviews with local staff members as well as leveraging automation routines, while creating, organizing and analyzing the data primarily (but not exclusively) in a GIS repository.
Principal responsibilities, experience, education, certification and skills:

  • Interview non GIS personnel and translate information gained into digital layers with key attributes properly associated
  • Creates and maintains data files and maps used for market area development, service area boundaries and market analysis purposes.
  • Performs data cleansing and restructuring to manage the linkage of information and data portability
  • Performs quality control checks of GIS data to ensure data integrity.
  • Collects data through interaction with municipal and 3rd party vendors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  • Knowledge of GIS technologies as gained through bachelor degree or demonstrated on the job training
  • At least 2 years of experience analyzing and digitizing GIS features and layers
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of ESRI software products and GIS
  • Ability to apply GIS concepts and work with spatial data
  • Ability to think and communicate spatially
  • Basic understanding of visualization of business information, cartographic design, GIS map creation, feature/attribute editing
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large volumes of data (both files and records)
  • Ability to work well in a team setting but accomplish work independently
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in geography or GIS is preferred
  • ArcGIS experience
