Contract services for utility company validating natural gas main and service piping lines. Utilizing ESRI ArcGIS v10.2 software updating attribute tables and piping discrepancies based on AS-Built documentation.

Verify the AS-Built drawings and reports generated by engineers, survey technicians and field service technicians.

Index Paper-Vision database documentation and validate location based information using assessor's parcel maps, records, plat and parcel data.

Read and interpret natural gas piping measurements, easements and right of way mapping drawings and data files.

Provide support and research in development, maintenance, updating and retrieving data form various GIS related files and databases.

Communicate with mapping team effectively as well as work independently.

Participate in process improvement activities, implement solutions and data management processes.

Great attention to detail and have the ability to work independently.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills.

Performs quality control checks of GIS data to ensure data integrity.

 

**Preferred Qualifications:**

• Bachelors degree in Geography/GIS or related field.

• Minimum of 1 year of GIS work experience or educational training courses.

 

**Minimum Qualifications:**

• High school diploma or G.E.D.

 

**Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:**

• Ability to perform quality control checks of GIS data

• Ability to use Geographic Information Systems and applications including but not limited to ESRI ArcGIS, MapInfo, Google Earth, and Microsoft MapPoint or MicroStation.

• Ability to use MS Office including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

 

**FULL-TIME TEMPORARY**

This is an excellent opportunity with a company that is located in north central Phoenix, AZ.

This is a long term assignment.

The candidate will be utilizing GIS and database software to gather, analyze data, develop, review, and process data related to the natural gas industry.

The ideal candidate will possess previous experience working in ESRI ArcGIS, MicroStation or AutoCAD.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE

Provide support and research in development, maintenance, updating and retrieving information from various GIS related files and relational databases.

GIS experience (ESRI ArcGIS preferred)

Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD

Utility drafting / mapping is a plus

Preferred knowledge of MapGuide / assessors maps / records

Problem resolution skills

Must be able to read and understand pipeline alignment sheets

Permit and plot drawings using manual and electronic survey data

Working knowledge of basic pipeline construction and field operations

Excellent computer skills and the ability to maintain existing databases and database integrity

Ability to analyze geographic relationships among varying types of data and solve problems using the GIS suite of tools.

Perform spatial analysis on data using GIS software; read and interpret source documents, civil engineering plans, plat maps, property deeds, and legal descriptions.

Enter required data into the GIS system.

Previous experience with ESRI software including ArcGIS for Desktop and its extensions.
