The Southwestern Regional Office will soon be advertising a GS- 0101/0401/1301 7/9 Term, full-time Geographic Information Specialist within the GIS/Photogrammetry Unit in the Geospatial Services Group at the Regional Office. Former federal service is not a requirement for this position. The purpose of this Outreach Notice is to inform interested applicants of the upcoming opportunity and determine appropriate recruitment methods and area of consideration that will generate a diverse and highly qualified applicant pool for the position.

About the Position

Travel is required occasionally and/or overnight. This initial appointment will last a minimum of 13 months with the option to be extended up to a 4 year limit.

The primary purpose of this position but not limited to is to provide GIS support for 2 projects:  the  Arizona Trail Database and editing for a Southwestern Region National Hydrography Dataset initiative. We are looking for an individual who has:

·        Skill in the use of software applications including ESRI ArcGIS 10.2, ArcGIS OnLine, word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

·        Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners to facilitate the use of consistent data dictionaries.

·        Ability to multi-task under short turn-a-round time frames

·        Good organizational and communication skills
