Strong MS-GIST Presence at Esri GeoDev Meetup

The Tucson Esri GeoDev Meetup held last Thursday at the Arizona Inn was, as always, a fun and educational event for the Tucson GIS Community. The event was sponsored by the University of Arizona GIST Program, and the presence of students, alumni, and program affiliates was certainly felt at the event. Four of the lightning talk presentations during the evening were given by MS-GIST Program folks: two 2014 alumni, Ben Hickson and Bill Beaver; and two current MS-GIST students, Naveed Ahmed and Imtiaz Syed. Ben, Bill, Naveed, and Imtiaz all gave excellent, enlightening presentations. We are so proud of each of them, and take pride in the fact that they are not only involved members of the southern Arizona GIS community, but that they are excited to share their work and projects with colleagues. Wonderful job, each of you!

It was excellent to have such a notable presence from the MS-GIST Program at the GeoDev Meetup, both in terms of presenters and attendees. Seeing the Tucson GIS professional community come out in such good numbers was also great to see. We are already looking forward to next year's Meetup!

A sincere "thank you" goes out to Esri's Dave Martinez and Amy Niessen for helping to arrange this event and create a good atmosphere to stimulate education and networking opportunities. In addition, we thank the Arizona Inn for hosting this event at their awesome venue.
