GIST Students Win Tony Gonzalez Scholarship

Taylor Hanschuh, Mohamed Mohamed, and Jared Logan (below left to right) are attending the annual Arizona Geographic Information Council's annual Education and Training symposium on Tony Gonzalez Scholarships.

As the GIS Manager for the Arizona Department of Transportation, Tony Gonzales was a valued member of the Arizona GIS community and committed to the advancement of GIS and GIS education throughout the State. His passing in 2001 was a huge loss for the GIS community.  The Tony Gonzalez Scholarship was endowed from proceedings from the 2001 Southwest User Group Conference. It has since been supplemented with additional funds from corporate and individual sponsors and from proceeds generated by the Arizona Chapter of GITA. The School of Geography and Development is pleased to recognize the 2018 winners of the Tony Gonzales Scholarship.
