MS-GIST Alumni Jared and Jacob Logan Land GIS Positions with Cox Communications

Jared and Jacob Logan, both MS-GIST Alumni have been hired for GIS positions with Cox Communications in Phoenix, AZ.

Congratulations to both of you!

From Jared and Jacob themselves:

We are currently working for Cox Communications as HFC Access Designers.  Our primary responsibility is drafting/designing network infrastructure.  To elaborate, we utilize a proprietary and somewhat hybrid CAD/GIS software to design functioning Coaxial Cable and Fiber Optic Networks that conform to industry standards, maintain the integrity of and integrate into our existing network.  We create maps and source bill of materials for construction planners.  We analyze and evaluate new prospective connections to the network.  Most importantly, we use GIS to help connect people to information, entertainment, and each other.

The MS-GIST program provided us essential skills, critical to our role as HFC Access Designers – critical thinking, the ability to learn new software quickly, understanding data integrity, cartographic conventions, etc.  Furthermore, the MS-GIST program provided us the quintessential networking that led us to this amazing role - shoutout to fellow MS-GIST Alumni Madison Benson!
