Thomas Jones moves his way up through City of Tucson IT/GIS

2017 MS-GIST graduate Thomas Jones first joined the City of Tucson in June 2017 in an internship capacity, and was swiftly hired on as a contractor to bring him to full-time status. On the basis of his internship and contracting work, Thomas was hired in March as a Network Engineer in the IT/GIS division, where he puts his GIS skills to work providing general technical support, maintaining and updating the City of Tucson’s telecom data, providing spatial data and maps for various City projects, and creating a tool for colleges to use. On the IT and network side of his job, Thomas is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and deploying new network infrastructure for projects supporting Tucson Police Department, Tucson Fire, and the Parks and Recreation Department.
