UA's Top-Ranked MS-GIST Program Launches Two New Emphases

The University of Arizona's highly successful Master of Science in Geographic Information Systems Technology (MS-GIST) program is expanding its offerings with two new, specialized emphases designed to meet the growing demand for advanced geospatial professionals. Students now have the option to pursue the Geospatial Analysis track or the cutting-edge Geospatial Data Science (GDS) emphasis.
The core Geospatial Analysis track provides advanced education in GIS, GIScience, and GIT, offering a comprehensive and dynamic curriculum that emphasizes project-based learning and real-world problem-solving. This popular emphasis accepts new students every Fall and Spring semester.
For those looking to leverage big data and emerging technologies, the Geospatial Data Science emphasis is a dynamic field integrating advanced analytics, mobile sensors, and human-computer interaction to solve complex challenges in areas like climate change and public health. Due to the specialized nature of the curriculum, applicants for the Geospatial Data Science track are accepted for the Fall start only.
The program's expansion further solidifies its national standing. According to GISDegree.org, the University of Arizona's online MS-GIST program is ranked #3 in the nation for Best Online Master's in GIS Programs. This top ranking, combined with the new, focused curricula, ensures graduates are equipped with the latest skills needed for the evolving geospatial workforce.
