We are hiring an Assistant Professor of Practice!

The School of Geography, Development Environment at The University Arizona, is seeking an Assistant Professor of Practice (Career Track) to join our dynamic faculty and students and advance the development and instruction in our Geographic Information Systems Technology (GIST) programs that are largely online and growing programs (http://gis.arizona.edu). This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly ranked geography school and be a faculty member at Arizona’s land-grant institution. The MS-GIST now accepts students to begin in the fall or spring semester and graduates 40-60 students a year. The BS-GIST undergraduate program began in 2015 and saw its first students graduate in 2018; it is one of the fastest growing on-line undergraduate majors at UA.  Successful applicants will teach across these programs.

Diversity of thought, background, and experience powers our culture of innovation, success, and life-changing discovery. We welcome candidates who have the academic qualifications appropriate for the appointment and the ability to work effectively within a broadly diverse community of students and scholars. As an Employer of National Service, we welcome alumni of AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service programs and others who will help us advance our Inclusive Excellence initiative aimed at creating a university that values student, staff, and faculty engagement in addressing issues of diversity and inclusiveness.
