MS-GIST 2012 Alumna Louise Misztal Elevated to Executive Director of Sky Island Alliance

One of the greatest parts of being on the teaching/administrative side of education in the Master’s in GIS Program at the University of Arizona is being able to see students and alumni progress in their careers and do excellent things in the workplace and for their communities at local and regional scales, and beyond. We take pleasure in bringing another such story to you, this time coming from MS-GIST 2012 graduate Louise Misztal.

Louise Misztal has been working with the Sky Island Alliance of Arizona for the last nine years on a number of conservation and restoration initiatives benefitting the biologically unique features of this region as Conservation Director. We are proud to announce that Louise recently accepted a new role with the Sky Island Alliance as Executive Director. Louise will continue to oversee prior work focused on climate change adaptation planning and on-the-ground responses, spring ecosystem survey and protection, and regional conservation prioritization, and will have an increased role in the overall vision of the Sky Island Alliance.

We take great pride in Louise’s transition to this new role of Executive Director, and revel in the fact that someone with her level of expertise and dedication will have a notable voice in many of the issues that impact the special region of southern Arizona, and the majestic sky islands and reside within it.

Congratulations, Louise! We look forward to the great things that you will be a part of in the future with the Sky Island Alliance!
