Carrie Williams, MS-GIST Alumni 2012, has been hired as a GIS Technician for Republic Services at their corporate headquarters in Phoenix. "I'm so excited to finally begin my professional GIS career," she said. Carrie will start April 14, 2014, as part of the Operation Support. The department is expanding due to the high demand of their services and their growing customer base. They will be hiring more staff in the near future so all GIS job seekers take note, you have a connection in Republic Services. Republic Services is the second largest waste management company in the country and is currently operating in 39 states and Puerto Rico with over 13 million customers. As a technician Carrie will be maintaining, updating, and data cleanup of their enormous database. A major aspect will be mapping and creating routes for their drivers, and creating maps for sales and marketing purposes. Data acquisition will be important as well, trying to maintain up to date information.
